My first day in Class 12th was a rollercoaster of emotions. It wasn’t just a new academic year but also a new beginning in a new city where my family had recently moved. I was excited to experience the college-like environment of my new school but also nervous about meeting new classmates and teachers. Little did I know that this day would turn out to be even more special than I imagined.
The day began with the school welcoming all new students with a Fresher Competition. This unique event was organized to help us feel at ease and connect with our peers. As soon as I entered the auditorium, I noticed the buzz of excitement all around. The stage was beautifully decorated, and the senior students were busy hosting the event with enthusiasm.
The Fresher Competition included a mix of fun games, talent showcases, and a short introduction round for each new student. My turn to introduce myself came quickly, and though I felt nervous, the friendly cheers from the crowd gave me confidence. I shared a few lines about my interests and hobbies and managed to get a loud round of applause, which made me feel welcomed.
During the talent round, I sang a short devotional song, something I had always enjoyed doing. To my surprise, the judges appreciated my effort, and some of my classmates even came up to compliment me. It was a great way to break the ice and start making new friends.
As the event progressed, I looked around to observe my new classmates. Suddenly, I spotted a familiar face in the crowd. It was my old school friend Rohan, whom I hadn’t seen in years. We had studied together in primary school, and I never expected to meet him in a new city and school.
I couldn’t contain my excitement and rushed over to greet him. For a moment, we both stood there, amazed at the coincidence. We quickly started catching up on everything—our old school memories, families, and how we ended up in the same school again. Meeting Rohan made me feel less like a stranger in the new city, and it was comforting to know I already had a friend by my side.
The Fresher Competition ended with a small prize ceremony, and though I didn’t win, I felt like a winner for having such a warm and memorable start to my Class 12th journey. Rohan and I walked home together, reminiscing about old times and discussing our plans for the future.
That first day in my new school taught me that change isn’t always scary—it can also bring pleasant surprises and reunions. The Fresher Competition helped me feel confident and welcomed, and meeting my old friend Rohan turned the day into a cherished memory. It marked the beginning of a year I was now looking forward to with excitement and hope.
